Every Girl Has a Story. We're Helping Write the Next Chapter.

About us

Paramount Young Women Initiative (PAYOWI) is a women-led advocacy and empowerment organization established in 2005 by a group of college graduates who envisioned a Liberia where girls and women have equal opportunities to succeed, lead, and contribute meaningfully to society. For more than two decades, PAYOWI has worked tirelessly to promote the social, educational, political, and economic advancement of adolescent girls and young women. Through community engagement, advocacy campaigns, mentorship, and educational support programs, the organization continues to create safe spaces where girls can grow, learn, and discover their full potential. At PAYOWI, we believe that empowering girls is not just about providing opportunities — it is about restoring confidence, amplifying voices, breaking harmful barriers, and inspiring the next generation of women leaders.

Mission Statement

PAYOWI exists to ensure that adolescent girls and young women are given equal opportunities to access education, remain safe, lead healthy lives, live free from violence and discrimination, and become empowered leaders capable of making informed decisions for themselves and their communities.

VISION STATEMENT

We envision a future where all Liberian women and girls are treated equally and empowered socially, politically, economically, educationally, and culturally to become active contributors to national development.
